London-Paris Connection

david jean-baptiste • clarinet family, alto saxophone
julian joseph • piano
eric vinceno • bass
nicolas genest • trumpet
benjamin sanz • drums

Treat yourself to this red hot international group lead by clarinettist and saxophonist david jean-baptiste from London. This ideal group of heavy weight players came together during David‘s recent ten month stay in Paris, hence the connection was born, with a good feeling of what will be.

This group can make anything happen, a mixture of male, female, youth and experience bring to you all that is hip about acoustic jazz from the two european capitals. As with most Jean-Baptiste musical expeditions, the caribbean blows a gentle wind within the varied stylistic soundscapes the music moves between.

...a pure and penetrating sound rich, reverberating eloquence
The Guardian, John Fordham

...Rarely have the sepulchral tones of the bass clarinet been more tellingly employed in jazz. Jean-Baptiste’s mastery of this formidable instrument is stupendous. He creates a dark, oaky sound which is utterly distinctive and instantly recognisable.
The Observer, Dave Gelly

...Il nous charme sans toutefois s’avérer être virtuose ou explorateur sonore de la clarinette basse.
JazzMAN, france

...Klassische Jazzstrukturen, ausgeprägte Fusion-Statements, wilde Balkan-Klezmer-Kapriolen sowie Bluesbezüge. Spannend und ungewöhnlich.
Kurier am Sonntag, germany

undoubtedly Julian Joseph is one of the finest inspirational jazz pianists and composers to emerge this side of the Atlantic. Admired for his accomplishments at weaving colourful textures and harmonies in his music… amazing dexterity… rapturous applause.
The Voice

... Nicolas Genest, trompettiste et buggliste inspiré, au jeu suave et feutré á la Miles, ou mordant á la Clifford Brown.
JazzMan, France

Eric Vinceno the dynamic bassist, composer and superb arranger from Guadeloupe has made his name with veteran caribbean pianist Alain Jean-Marie‘s `biguine reflections quintet´ and with unique pianist Martiniquoise Mario Canonge.
